PoopAR is an augmented reality application that enables users to add digital poo to their surrounding scenery.
You can install PoopAR on an ARCore supported Android devices from Google Play.
Unfortunately Google has decided to cancel the TPJ's PoopAR app. TPJ is keeping this page on its website for nostalgic purposes.
1. Dropping turds
PoopAR uses ARCore and Sceneform SDK (developed by Google) to render piles and logs of poo into the users scenery.
When a user opens up PoopAR, they will be prompted by visual instruction to move their phone around to scan the surrounding environment. This process enables PoopAR to identify planes (flat surfaces) in the scenery. A user can drop a digital turd into the scenery by simply tapping on a plane. Users cannot place turds in locations that are not identified as a plane. To increase the chances of PoopAR identifying a plane, users should thoroughly move their phone around to better scan the environment.
The poop toggle button enables users to switch between dropping piles (free) and logs ($1 CAD) of poo. As a fun bonus, 1 of 4 fart sounds are randomly produced when the user taps the poo toggle button.
Once placed, users can move the poo models to other locations in the environment that are identified as a plane by tapping and dragging the turds. Users can change the size of the poo models with a two finger pinching gesture.
Users can also rotate the poo models with a two finger rotation gesture.
2. Additional features
PoopAR has built-in screenshot and video recording functions, enabling users to easily share their PoopAR experiences with loved ones. Check your gallery for photos and videos taken using PoopAR. PoopAR is also equipped with a trash button (toilet icon) that deletes all poo models in the environment. The trash button has an added bonus function of producing a flush sound.
3. Mystery feature
Lucky ye be if figure the rule 3:
The prize will be unto thee:
PoopAR is currently only available for ARCore supported Android devices. PoopAR will not show up on Google Play for unsupported devices. A list of ARCore supported devices can be found here. If there is demand, thepoojournal.com will consider developing PoopAR for Apple devices.
When the user opens up PoopAR for the first time, they will be prompted to grant PoopAR permission to: 1) access photos, media and files, 2) record audio, and 3) take pictures and record video. These permissions are needed for PoopAR to take pictures, record video with audio, and store pictures and videos on the installed device. PoopAR does not make use of user data for any other purpose. PoopAR does not collect or share user data with any third parties.
Users of PoopAR agree to the following terms and conditions, modified from clauses 7 and 8 of the APACHE LICENSE, v 2.0.
